Sunshine is a family operated not-for-profit child care provider that has been providing superior school-age child care programs in Broward County since 1992. All of our programs are licensed and insured, and operate under the policies and directives of the Division of Children & Family Services and the Broward County School Board.
Sunshine is one of the highest rated After School Care Programs in Broward County. Our outstanding programs are recognized for meeting and/or exceeding the quality standards set forth by The Children and Family Services Licensing Department, the Broward County School Boards and the Broward County Children Services Council. All of our After School Care Programs have earned the “Gold Seal” award from the Child Care Licensing Department throughout our years in business.
We currently provide over 3,000 students with a wide variety of educational and recreational activities in our After School Care, No School Day and Camp Programs.
Safety is Sunshine’s #1 Priority
Since 1992, Sunshine Child Programs has passed all licensing inspections, and makes sure to always followed all guidelines with staff screenings, and does not start any employee until they are cleared by all background screenings through the State of Florida & Broward County.
In addition to this, Sunshine makes sure that all employees go through a yearly screening, in an effort to continue our concentration on safety.
Sunshine values the safety process and recognizes the importance’s of this as part of the safety for all of our children. We value highly all licensing inspections, and are proud to say that we have passed with 100% safety rating with all of our school and city locations, year after year.

Our Long-Standing Involvement with Children’s Services Council of Broward County
Sunshine has developed a very successful relationship with the Children’s Services Council of Broward County (CSC). This strong partnership has facilitated the delivery of a fully balanced After Care and Summer Camp programs to thousands of children throughout Broward County. Throughout the past years, Sunshine’s common grant applications are amongst the highest scored by CSC. Several times, the agency has obtained the highest scores of all Broward County grant applicants, a feat not too easy to accomplish amongst the magnitude of applicants pursuing funding. Consequently; Sunshine has been very successful at securing millions of dollars in grant funding on a yearly basis for the benefit of economically challenged children throughout South Florida. Sunshine has been just as successful at implementing the proposed grant programs with integrity and fidelity at each funded site. Repeatedly, the agency has boasted exceptional site monitoring reports by CSC, clean administrative reviews (audits) by CSC, and some of the highest reported participant outcomes of any Broward County grant funded agency. Sunshine is proud to be partnered with the Children Services Council of Broward County.

Engaging Student Activities
Our programs are well-balanced, offering engaging, developmentally appropriate academic and recreational activities that support the diverse individualized needs and interests of the children in our programs. Daily nutritional snacks and drinks are provided, quiet homework time, homework helper teacher, testing skills support, reading enrichment, technology, hands-on science activities, arts & crafts, SPARKS Physical Fitness program, organized sports, music and drama, talent shows, social skills, cultural arts, field trips, and special events are all part of our program.
Student Academic Support
We hire Teachers at each school site to provide additional administrative supervision during after school hours and who serve as a liaison with the school administration and staff. In addition, we hire certified teachers to do daily homework help, testing remediation, technology, and other academic enrichment such as reading, science, language and special clubs.
Child Care Professionals
Sunshine employs highly qualified staff who must pass a drug test and Level II National Background Screening and are 18 years or older with a minimum of a high school diploma. Our staff receives ongoing professional training in Child Development Coursework (minimum of 40 hours), Anti-Bullying Training, Child Abuse & Neglect Training, Safety & Security Procedures,
Pediatric CPR and First Aid Certification, CHAMPS Behavior Management Training
We hire bilingual staff at each of our sites to facilitate our diverse communities!
Dedicated Administrative Management Team
Highly experienced and trained professionals provide and develop educational support, supervision, and training for our childcare staff. Our Management Team is led by former Principals, Area Directors, and Teachers who provide daily support and positive collaborative communication with our school Administrators, staff, and parents.
We Serve Special Needs Children
Sunshine is one of the only providers who make the needed accommodations to take care of our special needs and medically fragile students whenever possible at their home school.
We provide specially trained and experienced staff to work with our Special Needs students in small groups during after-school hours and, whenever possible, include them in age-appropriate group activities.
We Offer Financial Assistance
For the past thirty years, the Children Services Council of Broward County has awarded Sunshine millions of dollars of grant funding for our schools that meet the CSC Title I qualifications. Sunshine accepts Family Central and ELC funding through The Early Coalition of Broward County for qualifying families. We also provide scholarship funding through our own Sunshine Family Foundation.
School Partnership
Sunshine is proud to be nominated every year by our schools for the Broward County Schools District Partnership of the Year Award. We are very active business partners with each of our schools and the school district through our financial support for students and school staff recognition, serving on school SAC Teams, assisting with special programs, PTA/PTO involvement, Career Days and community support during the holidays with food & toy donations.
Year-Round Programs
Sunshine offers year-round child care programs throughout Broward County at select school sites and parks and community centers for Teacher Planning Days, Winter and Spring Break, select Holidays, and Summer Camp. Sunshine is a contracted Private Child Care Provider offering after-school care and non-school day camp programs for The Town of Davie and
The City of Hollywood.
